According to the Diagnistics and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), anxiety is "excessive worry, fear, and avoidance that can severely interfere with daily functioning." It is a sometimes blaring internal alarm that signals that something is wrong or uncomfortable, and it is generally extremely complex in origin.

There are several medically recognized anxiety disorders in the DSM-5, but on this page, anxiety is not a monster to be battled with but a wound to be cleansed, treated, and healed. Together we'll explore ways to reintegrate the anxiety-inducing portions of our lives and live in peace with them.

Depression is often characterized by a loss of interest or pleasure in activities, difficulties making decisions, significant weight changes (loss or gain), feelings of worthlessness or guilt, among other symptoms (please refer to the DSM-5 for a more comprehensive list of symptoms). However, even chronic depression can be aided (if not eliminated) through a deeper spiritual life and reliance on God's goodness.

Here we will offer resources on feeling and dealing with depression from a faith-based perspective --always with healing and wholeness as the end goal.
